Maddie is in Galway with Dance Moms Tonight

It’s a secret shared only by myself and my better half. And now I have to divulge it to this craicing world. I am a closet fan of Dance Moms. It is my guilty pleasure and recorded religiously for fear I will miss out on the latest fly on the wall drama. For those of you who don’t know, Dance Moms is a reality television show following the lives of young dancers, their moms and their teacher, Abby Lee Miller. This description doesn’t do it justice at all.
For those of us brought up watching the Billy Barry Kids on the Late Late, its the behind the scenes tell all cat fights and gossip that occurs while the youngsters are twisting and turning into all sorts of majestic shapes, while constantly on the road competing to be crowned dance champions week in, week out. And they some how manage to go to school, train and deal with their over the top momagers. Abby Lee is your typical ‘love her or hate her’ character as she continually winds up the doting mammys, who want their daughter to shine.
The musos amongst you might recognise one of the ALDC students, Maddie Ziegler, from her performance in Sia’s ‘Chandelier’ music video, which has received over 500 million views on You Tube worldwide (or as Darius just pointed out - half a billion). Show fans amongst you will want to know how they are coping without Chloe and what is the story with Jo Jo.
The point of this confession is that, to my shock, they are coming to Galway! Yes the ALDC are bringing their Truth or Dare tour to the Radisson Blu hotel on Friday, February 27th from 6pm. It’s expensive, at over 128 for a ticket, but it is a chance to meet Abby Lee, Maddie, Mackenzie, Kendall and Kalani, have your photo taken with them and get an ALDC t-shirt. It’s a Q and A with some performance also. I am so tempted. I really am. I’m not too old for this sort of thing am I?
